Fall Skill Development Practices and Movement Sessions
​​SKILL DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES
For players that are unable to commit to a full season of practices and tournaments or for players that we are unable to offer a spot on a team after tryouts, skills-only practices are a great option to help players develop their game before their winter season. These are age-based workouts in which rising 2nd-10th graders can participate. There will be seven practices which will take place on Mondays at the West Warwick Civic Center and last one hour. Practices begin on 9/14 and end on 11/2. The director will email the practice times to all participants a week before the first practice. Players will receive a RI Magic t-shirt at the conclusion of the program.

At skills practice, coaches teach six concepts each week, utilizing age and
skill appropriate drills to teach those concepts. Drills are varied each week.
The concepts that are taught every session are:
1. Ball Handling
2. Footwork/Offensive Moves
3. Passing
4. Defense
5. Rebounding
6. Shooting
Skills practices end with 3v3 so players can incorporate
the skills taught into a game situation. ​​

The cost for the skills development practices is $150.

MOVEMENT SESSIONS
One of our coaches, Dr. Tim Swenson, is a physical therapist that works with players on injury recovery and prevention as well as strength and conditioning. This video explains the movement sessions that Dr. Tim offers. There will be seven sessions. These weekly one hour sessions are open to rising
5th-10th grade players.

The cost of the movement sessions is $150.​​​

Movement sessions can be added to the skills program for a discounted fee of $250 total. (Rising 5th-10th graders only)​​​​
