Guidelines for tryouts:

Before tryouts

  1. We ask that you take your child’s temperature and check them for the common symptoms associated with the COVID-19 before practice. You can find more information regarding symptoms at https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/coronavirus.html

  2. Players will stay in their cars until they are called in.

  3. Players will not be called into the gym before 12:00.

  4. Players will be broken into small groups based on their last name. There will be signs indicating the groupings as they are called into the gym.

  5. Players will maintain social distancing as they walk in the WWCC.

  6. All players must wear masks in and out of the tryout.

  7. Parents will not be allowed in the tryout. If you need to contact me for any reason, you can call 401-864-2629.

During tryouts

  1. We will have the players broken into groups and they will stay in that group with the same coach for the entire tryout.

  2. Players are NOT allowed to bring basketballs to the tryout. Coaches will have basketballs and they will disinfect the balls before, during and after the tryout.

  3. When the tryout begins, coaches will have hand sanitizer that they will give to the players to use. They will do this at the end of tryout as well.

  4. Players should bring their own water bottles and no sharing is allowed. We recommend that players bring a water bottle with their name clearly visible on the bottle and do not use the water fountains at the WWCC.

  5. Coaches will be wearing masks as much as possible during the tryout, but may need to remove them to provide direct instruction. When doing so, they will maintain a distance of 10 feet. When talking to the players, players will remain socially distant at a minimum of 6 feet apart.

  6. During the water break, the coach will disinfect the basketballs again.

We will not be able to have a parent meeting during tryouts, as we usually do. You will be emailed a link to a Zoom meeting for all parents for 4:30pm on Saturday that will explain the tryout process and answer any questions you may have. Per our usual process, an email will be sent on Saturday night for those players that we can offer a spot on a team that will also explain the acceptance process.
