Fall 2020 Season Information
After an extremely successful summer season in which the Magic had 13 teams play an abbreviated summer schedule, completing 4 tournaments and practicing for two months, we are very excited to be playing basketball again this fall! Although things will look different if you didn’t play this summer, all CDC and local guidelines are being followed as well as the additional layers of safety protocols we enacted to ensure the utmost safety of our players, coaches and families. Below are the tentative plans for our fall season.
Our fall program begins the week of September 14th and runs no later than the first week of November. We offer a boys' and girls' program for players in grades 3 through 12 and tryouts are open to all players of varying skill levels and playing experience.
We plan to practice once a week, but that practice time will be expanded from 1:15 minutes to 2 hours. Approximately the first half of that practice will solely focus on skill development. We will teach and reinforce the main basketball concepts, utilizing drills that build on each other throughout the season. The second half of practice will focus on the team concepts of basketball and players and teams prepare them for their games. Practices will take place at the West Warwick Civic Center. Final day and times of practices are finalized approximately a week before the season begins.
Tournament play will begin the weekend of September 26-27th, We plan to play 3-5 tournaments. The tournament location will determine the number of tournaments.
The cost of the season is TBD based on the number of tournaments and whether those tournaments are two games or more. (Last fall season the cost was $495 based on 5 tournaments that had a minimum of 3 games.)
If you need a uniform package, they are $85. Please be sure to order them big, as they cannot be returned or exchanged. We also don’t change our uniform style, so bigger is better!

Skill Development Option
For players that are unable to commit to a full season of practices and tournaments or for players that we are unable to offer a
spot on a team after tryouts, skills-only practices are an option. There are age-based workouts that any player from 3rd-12th grade can participate in. Players will also receive a RI Magic t-shirt. Skills practices will be held on Thursdays beginning September 14th and will continue through the end of the season. The skills practice will last approximately 1 hour. Participants will stay with the same coach and group of players each week for the entire season. Practices will take place at the West Warwick Civic Center.
The cost for skills is $100.
